What I learned in my first month blogging

What I learned in my first month blogging/the baby basics of blogging

The first thing I learned was It is free! You don't have to spend any money at all when you get started. Despite how easy it is to spend money, and how much easier it would be if you did, and what everyone else tells you, there is a way to start a blog that has the potential to make money completely free. I used Google's platform, I tried another platform, but I hated it. Rather than quitting, I tried something else and make it work.

That is the second thing I learned if at first you don't succeed, try try again. Never give up, most potential bloggers give up within the first three months.

The next thing I learned is what plugins are, everyone kept talking about them and I was lost! Plugins are a fundamental part of blogging. Essentially, they are software additions, that allows for the customization of wed browsers. Now these are not elaborate code, they are as simple as having a search bar, or allowing people to access the buttons to follow your posts.

Next I learned that you have to have a privacy policy, it is illegal not to have one, the good news is, google did that part for me, so I was legal from the start. I used a website to create my own after doing more research, you can access my privacy policy through the sidebar, listed below, pages.

After that I learned about marketing, I was on Pintrest from the start, but I only had 32 followers, well now I have 33. My point is I am slowing joining group boards, I don't expect to have 100k followers over night, but I have to start somewhere. Oh, and I learned that when people search for people on Pintrest they are not searching their name, but their username. I had to go and change my username after I found this out.

Now I haven't learned how to create an avatar, yet. I learned I want to. An avatar allows you to remain anonymous, yet still be personal with your readers. If you read this after I have an avatar as my profile picture, celebrate for me, I learned something else new!

The most important thing I learned is, keep learning! Never assume you know everything.

Now I know about SEO and I use it, but I don't put a ton of emphasis on it, after all I am still learning.

Next I learned tone, when you are writing a blog, it is best to keep it casual. As if you are having a conversation with your readers. Just as you would talk to someone in person. There is no reason to use strange vocab words, no one understands. The point is that your readers understand you. And a picture is worth a thousand words.

Don't use stock photos! I saw lots of blogs telling me to use stock photos, bad idea. Using stock photos, not only, tells any search engine that yours is not new, and not worth showing. You run the chance that people, have seen the photos before.
